About 2048 Deluxe
2048 Deluxe is a sliding-tile puzzle played on a square grid. Every move pushes all the tiles in one direction, and whenever two tiles with the same number collide they fuse into one tile with double the value. A new 2 or 4 appears after each move, so the board slowly fills while you try to build one tile up to 2048.
This version adds a few comforts: a small number of undos, plus a choice of 4x4, 5x5 or 6x6 boards. It suits anyone who likes quiet, thinking-heavy puzzles. A round lasts roughly three to ten minutes, and a good run keeps the biggest tile parked in a corner while the rest of the board stays tidy.
How to play 2048 Deluxe
- Slide the tiles with a swipe or arrow key; they all travel as far as they can in that direction.
- Merge two equal tiles by pushing them into each other to make a tile of double the number.
- Pick a corner for your largest tile and avoid moving it out of there.
- Use one of your three undos if a move leaves the board in a bad spot.
- Keep merging until a 2048 tile appears, or until no tile can move and the round ends.
Controls
| Keyboard and mouse | Press the arrow keys to slide every tile in that direction. Press U or Z to undo your last move, or click the Undo button under the board. |
|---|---|
| Phone and tablet | Swipe anywhere on the board in the direction you want the tiles to slide. Tap the Undo button to take back a move, and tap 4x4, 5x5 or 6x6 to change the board size. |
Scoring
Each merge adds the value of the new tile to your score, so combining two 64s gives 128 points. Reaching 2048 ends the round as a win and adds a 500 point bonus. Higher scores come from long chains of merges rather than one lucky slide, and a bigger board gives you more room to build them.
Tips and strategy
- Choose one corner for your biggest tile and keep it there. Rely on three directions most of the time and use the fourth only when you have no other safe move.
- Build a descending row along one edge, such as 256, 128, 64, 32. When the small tiles merge up, they feed straight into the chain beside them.
- You only get three undos per round, and the game remembers just the last five moves. Save them for a move that truly boxed you in.
- Before swiping, scan for a move that merges two pairs at once. Double merges free up more space than sliding tiles around without combining anything.
- If you find the 4x4 board cramped, try 5x5 or 6x6 for a relaxed game, then return to 4x4 when you want a real challenge.
2048 Deluxe FAQ
▸Does the game end when I make 2048?
Yes. When a 2048 tile appears, the round finishes as a win and you receive 500 bonus points on top of your merge score. Start a new round with Enter or the play again button if you want to try for a higher score.
▸How many undos do I get?
You start each round with three undos. Each press takes back one move, up to the last five moves kept in memory, and the counter on the Undo button shows how many remain.
▸Why did nothing happen when I swiped?
A swipe only counts if at least one tile slides or merges. If everything is already pressed against that edge with no matches, the move is ignored and no new tile appears.
