About Block Stacker

Block Stacker is the classic falling-pieces puzzle. Seven shapes made of four squares each fall into a ten-wide well. You steer and turn each one so it lands neatly, and every completely filled row vanishes, giving you room to keep going. The pieces arrive in shuffled sets, so you will see every shape regularly.

It works for short breaks or longer sessions, anywhere from three to ten minutes. Beginners can enjoy the slow early levels, while experienced players chase four-row clears and a tidy, flat stack. A good run keeps the surface smooth, leaves a gap for the long piece, and survives the faster levels.

How to play Block Stacker

  1. Shift each falling piece left or right to line it up with a gap.
  2. Rotate it until its shape fits the surface below.
  3. Check the faint outline at the bottom of the well to see exactly where it will land.
  4. Fill a whole row with no gaps to clear it and score.
  5. Peek at the NEXT box to plan your following move, and stop the stack from reaching the top.

Controls

Keyboard and mouseLeft and right arrows move the piece, the up arrow or Z or X rotates it, and the down arrow drops it faster. Press Space to slam it straight to the bottom.
Phone and tabletSwipe sideways on the board to shift the piece, tap to rotate and swipe down to drop it instantly. Five on-screen buttons below the board do the same jobs: left, rotate, right, soft drop and DROP.

Scoring

Clearing one row gives 100 points, two give 300, three give 500 and four at once give 800, all multiplied by your current level. Pushing a piece down yourself adds a point per row, and a hard drop adds two points per row fallen. The level goes up every eight lines cleared, and the falling speed rises with it.

Tips and strategy

  • Keep one column on the edge empty and build the rest flat. When the long straight piece arrives, dropping it there can clear four rows for the biggest payout.
  • Do not rotate right against a wall or stack. The game tries to nudge the piece one or two squares to make the turn fit, but a cramped spot can still block it.
  • Use the NEXT preview before you commit. If the next piece is a square, you can leave a two-wide gap on purpose instead of forcing the current one in badly.
  • Avoid holes under overhangs. A single buried gap stops its row from clearing and forces you to clear everything above first, which gets harder as the pieces fall faster.
  • Use the hard drop only when the landing outline is where you want it. Speed bonuses are small next to line clears, so accuracy matters more.

Block Stacker FAQ

▸When does the game end?

It ends when a new piece has no room to appear at the top of the well. Your final score and total lines cleared are shown at that point.

▸Why did a piece not rotate?

If the turned shape would overlap blocks or walls, the game tries shifting it a couple of squares sideways. If none of those spots are free, the rotation is ignored. The square piece never changes when rotated.

▸Is there a hold slot?

No. You only get the NEXT preview showing the upcoming piece, so planning one move ahead is the main skill.

▸Does it work on a phone?

Yes. You can swipe and tap on the board, or use the row of buttons beneath it if you prefer precise single steps.
