About Bridge Builder
Bridge Builder is a one-button timing game. A small hero stands at the edge of a tower, and the next tower sits across a dark gap. You hold to stretch a glowing stick upward, release to let it topple over, and then the hero walks across whatever you built. Too short and he falls in, too long and the stick overshoots the platform.
It is easy to pick up in seconds and hard to master, which makes it a good fit for short breaks. Runs usually last one to five minutes. A strong run strings together many clean crossings, with a few perfect landings in the middle of a platform to earn bonus points.
How to play Bridge Builder
- Start with the hero on the first tower, looking at the gap to the next one.
- Hold to make the stick grow. Watch its tip against the far platform, and the small red mark on the platform's top.
- Release when the tip would land on the next tower. The stick swings down to form a bridge.
- If the tip lands on the platform, the hero walks across and the view scrolls to the next gap.
- If the stick is too short or long, the hero walks to its end and falls, and the run is over.
Controls
| Keyboard and mouse | Hold the mouse button on the game, or hold Space, the Down arrow or Enter, to grow the stick. Let go to drop it. |
|---|---|
| Phone and tablet | Press and hold anywhere on the game area with your finger to extend the stick, then lift your finger to release it. |
Scoring
Every successful crossing is worth 1 point. If the tip lands within a few pixels of the red mark in the middle of the platform, you get a PERFECT and the crossing is worth 2. Because platforms get narrower and the gaps wider as your score climbs, high scores take real precision.
Tips and strategy
- Aim for the red marker in the centre of the next tower, not just any spot on it. Landing on it gives a PERFECT and doubles the points.
- Release early rather than late. A stick that ends on the platform edge still counts, while one that sails past the far side fails.
- The stick grows faster as your score rises, so shorten your holds over time. What felt like a one-second hold at the start will be too long later.
- Judge the gap by eye before you press. Gaps vary, so check the distance to the platform's near edge first, then decide how long to hold.
- If the stick reaches its maximum length it drops by itself, so on very wide gaps you will need to time the start precisely.
Bridge Builder FAQ
▸Does the stick need to land in the middle of the platform?
No. Landing anywhere on the platform counts as a crossing worth 1 point. Hitting the centre mark, called a PERFECT, is worth 2 points instead.
▸Why did I fall even though the stick looked long enough?
A stick that overshoots the far edge fails just like one that falls short. The tip must come down on the platform itself, between its near and far edges.
▸Does the game get harder?
Yes. Platforms shrink toward a minimum width and the gaps can grow larger as your score rises. The stick also grows faster, so you must hold for less time.
▸Where do my best scores go?
Your best score is shown on screen, and each finished run can be submitted to the weekly leaderboard and earn XP.
