About Carrom Clash
Carrom Clash is a one-player take on the tabletop flicking game. A square wooden board holds a ring of white and black coins around a red queen, and a pocket sits in each corner. You flick a blue striker from your baseline to knock coins into pockets, and the computer takes alternate turns with the black coins.
Each match runs five to ten minutes, which suits a break between other things. It rewards patience: sliding the striker to a good spot, angling the shot and judging power matter more than speed. A strong game clears all nine white coins before the computer clears its nine black ones, with the queen secured along the way.
How to play Carrom Clash
- Slide the striker along your baseline until it sits clear of all coins.
- Pull back from the striker, watching the dotted aiming line, and release to shoot.
- Pocket white coins to keep your turn; pocket nothing of yours and the computer plays next.
- Pocket the red queen, then pocket one of your own coins on the same or next shot to cover it.
- Clear all nine white coins before the computer clears its black ones.
Controls
| Keyboard and mouse | Slide the striker with the left and right arrows, aim with A and D, then hold Space to fill the power bar and release to shoot. You can also drag back from the striker with the mouse and release. |
|---|---|
| Phone and tablet | Touch and drag along the bottom strip to slide the striker sideways. Then drag backwards from the striker, like pulling a slingshot, and lift your finger to shoot in the opposite direction. |
Scoring
Your final score is 100 for every white coin you pocketed, plus 150 if you secured the queen, plus a bonus of 400 for winning and 30 for each black coin the computer still had left. Pocketing the striker is a foul and costs you one of your pocketed coins, which is placed back on the board. A win with several black coins remaining gives the best total.
Tips and strategy
- Aim to hit a coin so it travels straight toward a corner pocket. Line up the striker, the coin and the pocket, and use the dotted line to check the angle.
- Use gentle power for coins close to a pocket. The power bar turns from green to yellow to red, and a hard hit often sends the striker into a pocket too.
- A white coin pocketed lets you shoot again, so look for chain shots. Setting up the next target while pocketing the current one keeps the computer waiting.
- Do not shoot the queen unless a cover is likely. If you fail to cover it on your next shot, the queen is put back near the centre and you lose the effort.
- When the striker overlaps a coin the game will not let you shoot. Slide it a little left or right to find a clear spot first.
Carrom Clash FAQ
▸Is this multiplayer?
No. You play white against a computer opponent that plays black. The two of you alternate turns, and the computer takes a moment to aim before every shot.
▸What counts as a foul?
Pocketing your striker is a foul. You lose the turn, and if you already pocketed any coins, one of them returns to the board.
▸How do I cover the queen?
After pocketing the queen, pocket one of your own white coins on that same shot or on your following one. If you manage it, you keep the queen and earn 150 bonus points.
▸Why can I not shoot sometimes?
You can only shoot during your own turn, and the striker must not overlap any coin. If it does, a message tells you to slide it first.
