About Number Chain
Number Chain, shown in the game as Number Trail, scatters a set of numbered circles across the screen and challenges you to tap them in order, starting from 1. It looks simple, but your eyes have to hunt for the next number while your hand keeps moving. As you tap, thin lines link the circles you have cleared, drawing the path of your chain.
It suits anyone who enjoys quick visual-search puzzles or wants a small focus exercise. Before you start you pick 15, 25 or 40 numbers, so a round fits a short break or a longer challenge. A good run finishes the whole chain quickly without a single wrong tap, since each mistake adds time.
How to play Number Chain
- Pick a round size: 15, 25 or 40 numbers.
- Find the circle marked 1 and tap it.
- Look for 2, then 3, and keep following the sequence upward.
- If you tap the wrong circle it shakes and 2 seconds are added to your clock.
- Tap the last number to finish and see your time.
Controls
| Keyboard and mouse | Click the numbered circles with the mouse in ascending order. Choose a size on the opening menu first by clicking it. |
|---|---|
| Phone and tablet | Tap the circles directly in order, starting at 1. Choose how many numbers you want on the opening menu. |
Scoring
Your score starts from 150 points per number in the chain and loses 20 points for every second on your clock, with a floor of 20. Wrong taps add 2 seconds each, so they cost you points. Larger rounds are worth more, so a clean 40-number run scores highest if your time stays low.
Tips and strategy
- Scan for the next number while tapping the current one. Waiting until after a tap to start searching adds a pause between every circle.
- Do not guess. A wrong tap adds 2 seconds, which is usually longer than it takes to find the right circle.
- Cleared circles fade out, so the screen gets easier as you go. Slow down at the start, then speed up as clutter disappears.
- Start with 15 numbers to learn the layout style. Bigger rounds use smaller circles, so they need steadier aim and sharper eyes.
- Look at regions of the screen in a pattern, such as left to right, rather than jumping around randomly. It helps you avoid missing a number hiding in a corner.
Number Chain FAQ
▸When does the timer start?
It starts when the circles appear after you pick a size. Time includes any 2-second penalties for wrong taps.
▸Which round size should I pick?
Try 15 first to get used to it. The 25 and 40 options have more circles and a higher potential score, but they are harder to scan.
▸Can I tap a circle I already cleared?
No. Cleared circles fade and ignore taps, so only a wrong uncleared number triggers the penalty.
▸Is my result ranked?
Your final score is submitted when the chain is complete and can count toward the weekly leaderboard and XP.
