About Spring Jump
Spring Jump is a vertical climbing game. A small yellow creature bounces automatically, and your only job is to steer left and right so it lands on platforms as the screen scrolls upward. Some platforms move, some crumble, springs fire you high, and spiky red enemies float in the sky. How high you get is all that matters.
It suits anyone who likes endless arcade games, on a computer or phone. A run lasts one to four minutes, and each restart is instant. A good run climbs past several 100 metre markers, avoids the brown crumbling platforms, uses springs to skip ahead, and stomps a few enemies for extra points.
How to play Spring Jump
- Land on platforms from above. The jump happens automatically, so you only steer.
- Avoid brown platforms, which crumble and let you fall through. Green and blue ones are safe.
- Land on the middle of a platform with a coiled spring for a super jump.
- Drop onto enemies from above to stomp them and bounce. Touching them from the side or below ends the run.
- Keep climbing. If you fall off the bottom of the screen, the run is over.
Controls
| Keyboard and mouse | Use the Left and Right arrow keys or A and D to steer. The character wraps around when it leaves one side of the screen and comes back on the other. |
|---|---|
| Phone and tablet | Touch and hold anywhere on the screen, and the character moves toward your finger. Drag left or right to change direction. |
Scoring
Your score is the height climbed in metres plus 10 points for each enemy you stomp, and a stomp also counts as extra height. A pop-up appears at every 100 metres. Steady climbing with a few stomps is the way to build a big total.
Tips and strategy
- Use the screen wrap. Leaving one edge brings you back on the other side, so you can reach a platform on the far side without crossing the whole screen.
- Blue platforms slide sideways. Time your landing for when they come beneath you instead of chasing them, which can make you overshoot.
- Brown platforms break when landed on, and you drop straight through. If one is the only option nearby, look for a spring or a safer platform one jump higher.
- Springs only trigger near the middle of the platform, so line up carefully. A successful one carries you far above the normal jump height.
- Enemies become more common as you rise. Approach them from above so you land on top, because brushing past the side or bottom ends the run.
Spring Jump FAQ
▸How do I jump?
You do not. The character bounces every time it touches a platform, and you only choose where it lands by steering left or right.
▸Does the game get harder as I climb?
Yes. Over the first several hundred metres, platforms spread further apart, more of them move or crumble, and more enemies appear.
▸What happens when I reach the edge of the screen?
You wrap around to the opposite edge, which makes it possible to take shortcuts across the playfield.
▸Can I kill enemies?
Yes, by landing on them while falling. You get 10 points and a bounce, but any other contact ends the run.
