About Tap Race

Tap Race is a fast button-mashing sprint against three computer runners named Ember, Mint and Plum. Each tap of yours moves your runner one step along the track, and the first to reach 100 steps wins the heat. You see all four lanes at once, so you always know how close the race is.

It suits quick sessions and players who like a simple test of tapping speed and stamina. The race is short, but the computer runners get a little faster each heat, so a run continues only as long as you keep winning. A good run chains several heats and picks up time bonuses for finishing fast.

How to play Tap Race

  1. Tap once to start the first heat.
  2. Wait through the 3, 2, 1 countdown and do not tap early.
  3. When GO appears, tap as fast as possible; each tap moves you forward one step.
  4. Reach 100 steps before any computer runner to win the heat.
  5. Win and the next, faster heat starts automatically; lose and the run ends.

Controls

Keyboard and mouseClick the game area, or press any key, as fast as you can. Keyboard taps and mouse clicks both count equally, so use whichever you can repeat quickest.
Phone and tabletTap anywhere on the game area as quickly as you can. Use one or two fingers alternately for a faster pace.

Scoring

Winning a heat gives 200 points times the heat number, plus a speed bonus of 20 points for every second you finished under 20 seconds. Your final score is the total across all heats you win. Losing a heat ends the run without adding points for that heat.

Tips and strategy

  • Stay still during the countdown. Tapping early removes two steps from your progress and shows a too early warning.
  • Find a rhythm you can keep up for the whole race. A steady pace beats a burst that you cannot hold past the first twenty taps.
  • Alternate fingers or use two fingers on a touch screen. It spreads the effort and makes a higher sustained pace possible.
  • Check the tap meter near the bottom. It shows your recent pace, so if it drops you know you are slowing before your lane falls behind.
  • Each later heat rewards speed more. The bonus shrinks by 20 points per second, so a fast early win is worth building toward.

Tap Race FAQ

▸Are the other runners real players?

No. Ember, Mint and Plum are computer runners. Their speed rises with each heat and varies slightly during the race.

▸What happens if I tap during the countdown?

You lose two steps of progress and see a too early message. You can still win, but you start behind.

▸Does a loss end everything?

Yes. If a computer runner reaches the finish first, the run ends and your total from the heats you won is submitted.

▸Does my score reach the weekly leaderboard?

Your final total is submitted at the end of the run and can count toward the weekly leaderboard and XP.
