About Wing Hop

Wing Hop is a one-button flapping game. A little orange bird falls constantly, and each tap makes it flap upward. Green pipes slide in from the right with a gap in each, and you thread the bird through the gaps without touching a pipe, the ground or the top of the screen. The rules are small, but the rhythm takes a few tries to feel.

It suits anyone with a spare minute and some patience, from young players to adults. A run lasts one to three minutes, and the retry is instant. A good run passes ten pipes, which triggers a small celebration, and keeps its rhythm even as the pipes speed up and the gaps get a little narrower.

How to play Wing Hop

  1. Tap or press Space once to start. The bird sits floating until your first flap.
  2. Flap in small, regular taps to keep the bird at a steady height.
  3. Aim for the middle of each gap between the green pipes.
  4. Score one point each time you fully pass a pipe.
  5. If you touch a pipe, the ground or the top edge, the run ends.

Controls

Keyboard and mousePress Space, the Up arrow or W to flap, or click the game. Each press gives one flap, and holding a key does not repeat.
Phone and tabletTap anywhere on the game to flap. Tap at a steady rhythm to hold your height.

Scoring

You score one point for every pair of pipes you pass, and the number is shown large at the top. There are no bonuses. As your score grows the pipes move faster and the gaps shrink until they reach a minimum, so every point after the early ones is harder to earn.

Tips and strategy

  • Use small, even taps. Each flap gives the same lift, so a steady beat keeps you level and is easier to control than occasional big bursts.
  • Start your climb or drop as the next pipe enters view. Adjusting early is calmer than correcting at the last moment next to the pipe.
  • Aim for the middle of the gap rather than the edges. The hitbox is slightly forgiving, but cutting corners still clips the pipe rim.
  • Gaps shrink by two pixels for each point, down to a minimum around score 25. After that the difficulty levels out and only the speed matters.
  • Do not hold the key. Only a fresh press counts as a flap, so tapping fast is what lifts the bird.

Wing Hop FAQ

▸Why does the bird not move at first?

It hovers in place until your first flap, which also starts the pipes. Take a moment to get ready.

▸Does the game get faster?

Yes. The pipe speed increases with your score up to a limit, and the gaps shrink until they hit a minimum size.

▸What counts as a crash?

Touching either part of a pipe, hitting the ground, or going off the top of the screen. The bird then falls and the run ends.

▸Is there a best score tracker?

Your best score is shown on the screen next to the current score. It also counts toward the weekly leaderboard.
