About Word Search Daily
Word Search Daily gives everyone the same ten by ten letter grid each day, with eight hidden words to find. Words run in straight lines in any of eight directions, so they can read forward, backward, up, down or along a diagonal. The list of words to find sits under the grid, and found words turn green and get underlined.
It suits relaxed puzzle players who enjoy a short daily ritual, with a round of two to five minutes and a limit of five minutes in total. A good result finds all eight words well before the bar runs out. Because the puzzle changes only once a day, you can compare your approach with friends who played the same grid.
How to play Word Search Daily
- Read the word list below the grid before you start scanning.
- Press on a letter that begins a word and drag along a straight line.
- Release on the last letter; a correct word glows in a colour and moves to the found list.
- A wrong guess shakes and clears, so just try again.
- Find all eight words before the five-minute timer empties.
Controls
| Keyboard and mouse | Press the mouse on the first letter of a word, drag across its letters in a straight line and release on the last letter. |
|---|---|
| Phone and tablet | Touch the first letter, drag your finger straight along the word and lift on the final letter. The selection snaps to the nearest of the eight directions. |
Scoring
Each word found is worth 100 points. If you find every word before the time runs out, you also get 2 extra points for each second left on the clock. If the timer ends first, your score is just 100 times the number of words found.
Tips and strategy
- Scan for rare letters first. Words with letters like Z, Q or J are easier to spot than ones made of common letters such as E or A.
- Remember that words may be reversed. A selection works from either end, so you can drag from the last letter to the first.
- Look for the first and last letters together. Finding a matching pair in a straight line is faster than reading every row.
- Work through the list in a fixed order and tick words off in your mind. It stops you from rereading the same grid area repeatedly.
- Do not rush wrong drags. They cost no points, but each wasted attempt is time you could spend on the five-minute bar.
Word Search Daily FAQ
▸When does the puzzle change?
The grid is picked from the current day number, so everyone who plays that day sees the same puzzle and a new one appears the next day.
▸Do wrong selections cost anything?
No points are removed. The attempt just shakes and clears, but the timer keeps running.
▸Can words overlap?
Yes. Words can cross each other where they share a letter, which is also why a letter can be part of more than one answer.
▸Does my score count for the leaderboard?
Your score is submitted when the puzzle ends and can count toward the weekly leaderboard and XP.
