Privacy Policy
This policy explains what TurboGames collects when you play, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. We keep it short on data and long on detail.
Last updated 21 October 2026
The short version
- You do not need to register, and we never ask for your name, email address, phone number or password to play.
- If you submit a score, we create an anonymous player account: a random username and a random identifier stored on our servers, linked to the scores, favorites and progress you create.
- We use cookies and similar technology for essentials (keeping you signed in as your anonymous player, remembering your theme) and, if you agree, for advertising.
- Advertising on the site is provided by Google and other ad partners. They may use cookies to show ads and measure them. Section 6 explains how to opt out.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
1. Who we are
TurboGames (“we”, “us”) is a free collection of original browser games available at www.turbogames.buzz. The site is operated by The TurboGames team. You can reach us through the contact page. For the purposes of data-protection law (such as the GDPR and the UK GDPR) we act as the controller of the personal data described here.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact messages. If you use the contact form we store the message, the name you typed (optional) and the email address you typed (optional), so we can read and answer it.
- Username. Your anonymous account starts with a randomly generated username. You can change it to another name that is not already taken. Please do not use your real name or other personal details; usernames can appear on public leaderboards.
- Recovery code (optional). If you create one, we store only a one-way cryptographic hash of it, never the code itself. Anyone who has the code can take over the account, so keep it private.
Information created when you play
- Scores, personal bests, experience points (XP), level, daily-streak progress, badges, favorite games and the date and game of your recent plays.
- Game ratings you give (one per game per player) and aggregate play counts for each game.
- Which game pages are opened and which games are finished. When you are signed in as an anonymous player these events are linked to your player identifier; otherwise they are counted without any identifier. We use them to understand which games people enjoy and to improve the catalogue.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data. Like any website, our hosting infrastructure receives your IP address, browser and device type, referring page and the time of each request. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- Abuse prevention. To stop spam and automated abuse we rate-limit requests. For this we keep a short-lived, one-way hashed form of your network address, not the address itself.
- Advertising data. If ads are shown, our advertising partners collect data through their own cookies and scripts, described in section 6.
We do not use fingerprinting, we do not collect precise location, and we do not run third-party analytics or social-media tracking pixels on game pages.
3. How we use information and our legal bases
| Purpose | Examples | Legal basis (EEA/UK) |
|---|---|---|
| Provide the games and your player account | Saving scores, XP, streaks, favorites and leaderboards | Performance of a contract / our terms |
| Keep the site secure and fair | Rate limiting, blocking abuse, fixing faults | Legitimate interests |
| Understand and improve the games | Counting game opens and completions, ratings | Legitimate interests |
| Answer messages | Replying to a bug report or suggestion | Legitimate interests / consent |
| Show and measure advertising | Google and partner ads, frequency capping, reporting | Consent (where required) or legitimate interests |
| Comply with the law | Responding to lawful requests | Legal obligation |
6. Advertising, Google and your choices
We fund the site with advertising so the games stay free. Ads are served by Google (Google AdSense) and may also be served by Google's advertising partners.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- Ads may be personalized or non-personalized. Non-personalized ads are based on context (such as the page you are viewing) and general location rather than your browsing history.
You can control advertising in these ways:
- Manage or turn off personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings.
- Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Opt out of many third-party vendors' personalized ads at aboutads.info/choices (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
- Use your browser or device settings to block or delete cookies, and use the controls on our cookie banner. On mobile you can also limit ad tracking in your device's privacy settings.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, ads that use cookies or similar technology are shown according to your consent choices. You can change those choices at any time by clearing this site's data and answering the banner again.
7. How long we keep information
- Sign-in sessions last up to 365 days, or until you sign out.
- Anonymous player accounts, scores and progress are kept while the account is in use, so leaderboards and streaks keep working. You can ask us to delete an account at any time (section 9).
- Weekly leaderboard entries older than the current week remain part of your score history until the account is deleted.
- Anonymous game-event counts may be kept in aggregate for as long as they are useful for improving the site.
- Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping.
- Rate-limit records are short-lived and expire automatically.
8. Security
Player data lives in a database that is not reachable from your browser; only our servers hold the keys. Session tokens and recovery codes are stored only as one-way hashes, cookies that identify you are marked HttpOnly and sent only over HTTPS, and the administration area is protected by strong authentication. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and fix problems quickly.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, the UK, California and other US states) you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
- correct inaccurate information (you can change your username yourself on the profile page);
- ask us to delete your information, including your anonymous player account and scores;
- object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it;
- opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information; advertising partners may collect data through cookies as described above, which you can control with the tools in section 6;
- lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
To use any of these rights, contact us through the contact page and tell us your username so we can find the account. Because accounts are anonymous we may ask you to prove you control it, for example by signing in or by using your recovery code. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. We aim to reply within 30 days.
10. Children
TurboGames is a general-audience site and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age for consent). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below those ages. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. Parents and guardians can also use their device settings and Google's tools to limit personalized advertising.
11. Links to other sites
Some pages link to other websites, such as the opt-out tools above. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, so please read their policies.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. We will change the “last updated” date at the top and, for significant changes, show a notice on the site. Using the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
