About Maze Runner
Maze Runner drops you into a freshly generated maze every round and asks you to steer a red dot from the top-left corner to a glowing star in the opposite corner. A timer bar runs along the bottom, so you are racing the clock as well as the walls. Because each maze is random, there is no route to memorise.
It suits players who like spatial puzzles and can make quick decisions at forks. Runs last two to five minutes and the mazes get larger, from a 7 by 7 grid up to 25 by 25. A good run clears many mazes in a row, and from the fourth maze the board is hidden by fog, which makes remembering where you have been more important.
How to play Maze Runner
- Look at the maze and find the star in the bottom-right corner.
- Move through open gaps; walls block you and make a soft bump sound.
- Follow the green trail behind you to remember which paths you tried.
- Reach the star before the timer bar empties to clear the maze.
- A new, larger maze follows immediately, and the run ends when time runs out.
Controls
| Keyboard and mouse | Use the arrow keys or W, A, S and D to move one cell at a time. Holding a key repeats the movement, so you can run along corridors. |
|---|---|
| Phone and tablet | Swipe on the maze in the direction you want to go, or use the on-screen direction pad. Each swipe moves one cell. |
Scoring
Each cleared maze gives 100 points plus 20 for every level you have already completed, plus 5 for each second left on the timer. Mazes get bigger as you go, so later clears are worth more. Time left over is the easiest way to raise a score.
Tips and strategy
- Think about which corner you want to reach, not just the next step. The star is always bottom-right, so favour paths that head right and down.
- Use the green trail as a map of dead ends. If you see your trail stop at a wall, turn back and take the other branch at the last fork.
- Some mazes contain extra openings that create loops, so a path that looks like a dead end may connect elsewhere. Do not assume only one route.
- From the fourth maze fog hides distant cells. Cells you have seen stay faintly visible, so explore carefully and keep track of where unseen corridors begin.
- Watch the bar at the bottom. When it turns red there are fewer than 8 seconds left, so stop exploring and take the most direct known path.
Maze Runner FAQ
▸Does bumping into a wall cost time or points?
No. It just plays a short sound and you stay in place, although the timer keeps running while you choose a new direction.
▸How much time do I get per maze?
Each maze has its own timer, based on its size with a minimum of 20 seconds. The timer resets when a new maze begins.
▸When does the fog start?
Fog appears from maze number four. It hides distant cells, but areas you have already passed remain partly visible.
▸Is there a leaderboard?
When time runs out your total is submitted and can count toward the weekly leaderboard and XP.
