About Territory Rush

Territory Rush is a claim-the-board game in the spirit of classic area-capture arcade games. You start on the safe border of a grid and steer out into open space, leaving a glowing trail behind you. When you return to safe ground, the loop is sealed and every area without a bouncing enemy inside it becomes yours. The risk is the trail itself.

It suits players who like risk and reward and can enjoy a run of two to five minutes. Each level asks you to claim 70 percent of the board. A good run is one where you cut off big chunks safely, keep your hearts and push through several levels as the enemies multiply and speed up.

How to play Territory Rush

  1. Move from the safe edge into open space. This begins a yellow trail behind you.
  2. Steer a loop and return to claimed ground. The loop closes and the enclosed space is claimed.
  3. Areas that contain a red enemy ball stay open, so close your loop so the enemies are on the other side.
  4. Do not let an enemy touch your trail, and do not cross your own trail. Either one costs a heart.
  5. Reach 70 percent claimed to clear the level. You have three hearts in total, and the run ends when they are gone.

Controls

Keyboard and mouseSteer with the arrow keys or W, A, S and D. Once you set a direction, your marker keeps moving until you change direction.
Phone and tabletSwipe in the direction you want to go, or use the on-screen direction pad. The marker keeps moving after each swipe, so you only need to tap or swipe when turning.

Scoring

Every tile you claim scores points, multiplied by two plus the current level, so later levels are worth more per tile. Clearing a level gives a flat 500 points plus 100 for each heart you still have. A strong run clears several levels while keeping hearts in reserve.

Tips and strategy

  • Short, quick loops are safer than huge ones. A shorter trail gives the enemies less time to hit it, and you can repeat the trick again and again.
  • Watch the enemy balls before you leave the edge. Start your loop when they are far away, and aim to seal them in the leftover part.
  • You cannot reverse direction while drawing, so plan your turns. Backing into your own trail ends the loop attempt with a lost heart.
  • When you lose a heart, your trail is erased and you return to where you left the safe area, so a mistake costs a heart but no claimed ground.
  • From level two, purple sweepers patrol the claimed edges. Avoid hugging the border near them, and cut across open space when one gets close.

Territory Rush FAQ

▸What happens when I lose a heart?

Your unfinished trail disappears and you are put back where the trail started. Anything you already claimed stays claimed.

▸Do hearts reset each level?

No. You have three hearts for the whole run, and they carry over between levels. Keeping them is worth 100 points each when you clear a level.

▸Why did a big area not get claimed?

A closed area stays open if an enemy ball is inside it. Only areas with no enemy are filled in, so try to leave the enemies in the smaller region.
